Enduro Africa Charity Ride 2011

October 13, 2011

Enduro Africa is a unique and challenging motorcycle adventure in aid of 4 amazing causes; UNICEF, Sentabale Prince Harry’s Fund for Lesotho, The Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund and Touch Africa.

The adventure itself is 12 days UK to UK, with 8 days of dusty and demanding riding through some of South Africa’s most rugged and isolated terrain. The first group of 60 riders arrive at TO Strand Leisure Bay, Port Edward on the Tuesday the 11th of October at 14h30. The second group of 60 riders depart from Port Edward for Port Elizabeth at 08h00 on Tuesday, 18th October. With enormous support from the global biking family the aim of the rally is to raise between 10 and 15 million rands for the above mentioned charity organisations. Africa has so many issues that need addressing, many of which impact on society’s most vulnerable people, the young and the old. Enduro Africa contributes to Africa by only working in association with charities that have demonstrated success in their mission to help save and improve lives in South Africa.

Each year adventurous motorcyclists from all walks of life, beginners and expert riders alike leave their ‘normal lives’ behind and take up the Enduro Africa challenge, to ride on 230cc Honda scramblers across some of the most beautiful and awe-inspiring scenery in South Africa. Why? To help save and improve the lives of many people in desperate need. These amazing participants, ride from dawn to dusk each day taking in the awesome ‘Wild Coast’ of South Africa, one of the continents most stunning landscapes. The ride is set against the dramatic backdrop of South Africa’s Eastern Cape, were the riders pass through some of our poorest communities. The rally is more a test of endurance than skill on a bike and is both physically and mentally draining for the riders. This is a team event ride with a purpose.

Prince William, Prince Harry and Mervin Woods (multiple winner of the Roof of Africa Motor as well as Motorcycle races) are amongst some of the celebrities that have taken part in the Enduro Africa Ride.
